For dolomite flotation with sodium oleate, at pH values below the IEP, it has been suggested that the mechanism of adsorption of the collector is by hydrogen bonding between the oleic acid molecules and the H 2 CO 3 sites at the mineral surface ; and the physical coating of the oleic acid to the mineral surface . In this pH range, the amount of oleic acid molecules that can interact with the mineral surface is dominant in the solution.
At pH 9.00, an optimal reagent scheme of 14 mg/L PAMS and 100 mg/L NaOl could realize the effective separation of apatite from dolomite via direct flotation. The adsorption density of PAMS onto dolomite was much greater than that onto apatite, resulting in the more significant shifts in the zeta potential of dolomite towards to negative direction.
Dolomite and magnesite could be efficiently separated at approximately pH 10 with a reagent scheme of 200 mg/L HEDP and 120 mg/L NaOl. The selective depression mechanism of HEDP for dolomite was revealed using contact angle, X ray photoelectron spectroscopy , zeta potential, and infrared spectrum analyses.
In this paper, flotation separation of magnesite from dolomite with Gaudin39;s selectivity index up to 6.42 was succeeded using α COA as collector and SHMP as depressant. At optimal dosage of α COA and SHMP, 89.72% of magnesite was recovered and 82.54% of dolomite was depressed.

Due to the high efficiency in the removal of silicate and carbonate gangue minerals, froth flotation is dominantly employed for the beneficiation of phosphate ore, especially for low grade sedimentary phosphate rocks.
CCS 500 and CCS 550 are sulfonated fatty acid also developed. and produced by Arr Maz Chemicals for dolomite flotation from phosphate ores. Separation Selectivity Index, SI, for dolomite flotation using collector PA 31, CCS 500, CCS 550, FAS 40A and mixture of FAS 40A and 10% DSS1 are plotted in Fig. 4 45.
The optimal NaOL dosage for magnesite flotation was 80 mg/L, under which 78% of magnesite could be recovered, and 100 mg/L of NaOL could recover 70% dolomite. Flotation tests were then carried out at different pH values with a fixed NaOL concentration of 80 mg/L for magnesite and 100 mg/L for dolomite.
