Regulation of Mechanically Agitated Flotation Cells. Geco Flotation Cells. More ores are treated using froth flotation cells than by any other single machines or process. Non metallics as well as metallics now being commercially recovered include gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, iron, manganese, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, graphite, phosphate, fluorspar, barite, feldspar and coal.
The present flotation plant consists of a roughing circuit in which the modified Callow type cells are used, and a concentrate cleaning circuit in which Fagergren flotation machines of a level type are employed. A rougher concentrate from the upper half of the Callow cells is pumped to 56 in. Fagergren cells for primary cleaning.
The performance of froth flotation cells is affected by changes in unit load, feed quality, flotation reagent dosages, and the cell operating parameters of pulp level and aeration rates. In order to assure that the flotation cells are operating at maximum efficiency, the flotation reagent dosages should be adjusted after every change in feed rate or quality.
Flotation Cells were developed to separate and recover high value Sulphide ores from low grade ore bodies. The ore is crushed and milled at the concentrator in a process known as comminution, where the mineral is in suspension in slurry. The particle size for mineral being recovered is generally less than lt;0.1mm.

Column flotation cells, like mechanical cells, are used to perform mineral separations. Column cells do not use mechanical agitation . Instead, mixing is achieved by the turbulence provided by the rising bubbles. Columns are mostly used to produce final grade concentrates because they are capable of high selectivity.
The oscillating grid flotation cell is a 10 L cell which is agitated by 19 grids mounted on a vertical shaft. Power intensities of up to 5 W/kg can be obtained using a variable speed drive. Air is introduced through porous spargers and regulated by a mass flow controller. Froth is removed by suction at the top of the flotation cell.
