Gold Leaching Process. Many opportunities exist throughout the world for small cyanide plants, possibly using a Gold Leaching Process, both for production and pilot operations, especially in areas not easily accessible, and where labor and local costs are on a level for profitable operation. Ores not fully amenable to treatment by amalgamation or flotation processes for the recovery of gold and silver can often be profitably treated by the cyanide process to produce bullion as a final product.
Intensive cyanidation is a good option, but obviously, the material can be sent to the leaching process employed to treat the raw ore. Gold and silver recoveries are between 99.5 to 99.7%. Although slag production weight is variable, a typical operation can generate 10 kilos of slag per 1000 oz of gold.
Pour the acid and bleach mixture into the plastic bowl with the ore grains and stir. Allow four hours for the gold to dissolve, stirring every 20 minutes. Leaching dissolves the gold out of the ore using a chemical solvent. The most common solvent is cyanide, which must be combined with oxygen in a process known as carbon in pulp. As the cyanide and oxygen react chemically, gold in the pulp dissolves. When workers introduce small carbon grains to the tank, the gold adheres to the carbon.

This flowsheet is the lowest in price, and can be used on what are commonly termed as free milling gold ores where a high percentage of the values are free and where these values are unlocked at reasonably coarse grinding.
